Callooh Callay Bar: Furniture Layout Design and Installation
Location: Shoreditch - London
The brief was to re-furnish the backroom of this famous London cocktail bar. The mirrors, curtains and booth wall coverings were existing so it was crucial to design a scheme which continued this Quirky, vintage, hint of disco feel.
The project involved more than doubling the seating capacity with a flexible configuration of furniture allowing parties of different sizes to be seated at different times. A bespoke built in waitress/host station was designed with careful consultation with staff, this not only worked on a practical level but was also designed to form part of a more subtle entrance area to the space, this really helps to emphasis the cosy feel of the room.
Along side a bespoke bar height work top built from a reclaimed school science room, fixed seating and vintage pieces we sourced nationally. The exquisite 1960-70's Palm lamp previously sourced by the owner was chosen to be the center piece for the room, whilst drop lights and spotlight filter gels were added to define and visually separate seating areas along side the rooms trade mark tea lights.
